Only 303 hand-numbered and boxed bottles released.
Distilled in 1991, this was exclusively
bottled for John Scott & Miller Ltd in 2005,
by Douglas Laing & Co Ltd.
Released at its natural strength of 56.1per cent, this is a fine
example of Orkney’s somewhat less well-known, though
certainly no less individual and characteristic single malt whisky.
Tasting Notes
The colour is a pale, yellow/amber with old gold highlights.
The nose is gentle and soft, with fresh, lightly floral tones,
citrus fruit notes, a light, malty sweetness, vanilla notes
and an underlying spiritiness. The addition of water accentuates
the softer characteristics of the whisky.
There is greater variation between the palate when tasted
neat and diluted.
Tasted neat, the whisky is initially quite spirity, dryish, firm,
and intense, with good body and length. It then develops a
nice warmth and spiciness, with a delicious honey-sweetness
and flavour, backed-up by a good spirity edge
When tasted with water, the whisky becomes much rounder, with more breadth and depth of flavour: a creaminess and a
greater mid-palate spiciness and warmth, a soft sweetness
(more honey, caramel/toffee), finishing very long and retaining
its spirity element throughout.
